Summary of Key Points

What personal information do we process? We may process personal information depending on how you interact with us and the Services, the choices you make, and the products and features you use.

Do we process any sensitive personal information? We may process limited sensitive personal information (such as precise geolocation, health and fitness data you choose to connect from Apple Health, or account access credentials) only where necessary to provide and secure the Services, and only with your consent. We do not use sensitive personal information for advertising or to infer characteristics about you.

Do we collect any information from third parties? We do not buy personal information from data brokers. We receive limited data from our authentication providers (Apple, Google), our payment partners (Apple App Store, Google Play, RevenueCat), our mobile attribution partner AppsFlyer (which tells us which advertising campaign a new member came from), and our website advertising/measurement partners (Meta Pixel, Reddit Pixel) which run only after you accept cookies on our website.

1. What Information Do We Collect?

Personal Information You Disclose to Us

In Short: We collect personal information that you provide to us.

We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide to us when you register on the Services, express an interest in obtaining information about us or our products and Services, when you participate in activities on the Services, or otherwise when you contact us.

The personal information we collect may include: names, usernames, email addresses, passwords (stored as hashes by Firebase Authentication — we never see your plaintext password), phone numbers (only if you choose to verify your account by phone), date of birth, gender, profile photos and background images, short bio, listed hobbies and interests, and contact or authentication data.

Sensitive Information. We may process limited sensitive information, such as precise geolocation (when enabled), health and fitness data you choose to connect from Apple Health (when enabled), and account access credentials, where necessary to provide and protect the Services and only with your consent. We do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you, and we do not use health or fitness data for advertising or marketing.

Launch Waitlist

If you join our launch waitlist on this website, we collect the email address you submit and the country you select, together with the mobile platform you are interested in (iPhone or Android). We use this information only to notify you when GoXtra becomes available in your country or on your platform. The waitlist is operated through our email provider, Brevo, acting as our processor, and you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send.

Payment Data

We may collect data necessary to process your payment if you choose to make purchases. All payment data is handled and stored by Apple App Store (Apple Inc.), Google Play (Google LLC), and RevenueCat. Payments are processed by Apple App Store and Google Play billing systems, with subscription management through RevenueCat. We do not store full payment card details on our servers.

Social Media Login Data

We provide you with the option to register and sign in using your Apple ID (Sign in with Apple) or your Google account (Sign in with Google). If you choose to register in this way, we will collect certain profile information about you from the relevant provider, as described in section 6 below.

Application Data

If you use our application(s), we also may collect the following information if you choose to provide us with access or permission:

  • Geolocation Information. With your device permission, we access and process precise location data (such as GPS-level latitude/longitude) to power location-based features, matching, and distance calculations. Your exact coordinates are kept private and are never shown to other users. On public surfaces (your profile and buddy discovery), other users only ever see a deliberately randomized approximate location — offset by a random distance and direction from your real position — never your exact pin. Your precise coordinates become visible to another user only if you choose to share them yourself, for example by sending a location in a chat message or attaching one to an event.
  • Health & Fitness Data (Apple Health). If you choose to connect Apple Health, with your permission we read your completed workouts and their associated metrics — activity type, distance, duration, active energy (calories), elevation gain, and the heart rate recorded during the workout — along with the GPS route of the workout when your device recorded one. We use this only to show you your own activities, to generate the stats and shareable activity cards you choose to create, and to award in-app achievements. You can also log activities manually without connecting Apple Health. We only read from Apple Health; we never write data back to it. See the dedicated Apple Health (HealthKit) Data section below for full details.
  • Mobile Device Access. We may request access to your device's microphone, camera, storage, and other features.
  • Mobile Device Data. We automatically collect device information (such as your mobile device ID, model, manufacturer), operating system, version information, browser type and version, hardware model, Internet service provider and/or mobile carrier, and Internet Protocol (IP) address.
  • Push Notifications. We may request to send you push notifications regarding your account or certain features of the application(s).

Information Automatically Collected

In Short: Some information — such as your IP address and browser and device characteristics — is collected automatically when you visit our Services.

We automatically collect certain information when you visit, use, or navigate the Services, including device and usage information, IP address, browser and device characteristics, operating system, language preferences, referring URLs, and other technical information.

The information we collect includes:

  • Log and Usage Data. IP address, device information, browser type, pages and files viewed, searches, and other actions you take.
  • Device Data. IP address, device and application identification numbers, location, browser type, hardware model, ISP and/or mobile carrier, operating system, and system configuration information.
  • Location Data. We collect location data such as information about your device's location, which can be either precise or imprecise.

Google API

Our use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Apple Health (HealthKit) Data

In Short: Health and fitness data from Apple Health is used only to power the in-app Activities feature. It is never used for advertising or marketing, never sold, and never shared with third parties for those purposes.

The Activities feature lets you bring your workouts into GoXtra. When you choose to connect Apple Health, GoXtra reads the following on your device, only with your explicit permission:

  • Completed workouts — activity type, start and end time, distance, and duration;
  • Active energy burned (calories) and elevation gain associated with a workout;
  • Heart rate recorded during a workout (average and maximum);
  • The GPS route of a workout, when your device recorded one.

We use this information solely to:

  • Display your activities and their statistics to you within the app;
  • Generate the activity summaries and shareable activity cards (wallpapers) that you choose to create;
  • Award in-app achievements based on your activity.

Consistent with Apple's requirements, we do not use health or fitness data — including any data obtained through the HealthKit API — for advertising, marketing, or use-based data mining, and we do not sell it or disclose it to third parties for those purposes. We do not use this data to make decisions regarding credit, insurance, or employment. GoXtra only reads from Apple Health; we never write workouts or any other data back to Apple Health.

You may revoke GoXtra's access to Apple Health at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → GoXtra. You can delete any individual activity from within the app. Activities you log are stored under your account and are visible to other users only according to the privacy level you set for each activity — Private (only you), Buddies (only your connected buddies), or Public (any signed-in user). You can also log activities manually without connecting Apple Health at all.

Information Collected from Other Sources

In Short: We do not purchase personal information from data brokers, but we do receive limited data from authentication providers and our advertising/measurement partners.

We do not obtain personal information from data brokers, joint marketing partners, affiliate programs, or public databases. The only third-party sources from which we receive information about you are:

  • Authentication providers (Apple, Google) — see Section 6 for the limited profile information they share with us.
  • Payment and subscription providers (Apple App Store, Google Play, RevenueCat) — see Payment Data above.
  • Advertising and measurement partners on our Website (Meta Pixel and Reddit Pixel, enabled only after you accept cookies) — these provide aggregated campaign measurement information.

2. How Do We Process Your Information?

In Short: We process your information to provide, improve, and administer our Services, communicate with you, for security and fraud prevention, and to comply with law.

We process your personal information for the following reasons:

  • To facilitate account creation and authentication and otherwise manage user accounts.
  • To deliver and facilitate delivery of services to the user.
  • To respond to user inquiries/offer support to users.
  • To send administrative information to you.
  • To enable user-to-user communications.
  • To request feedback.
  • To protect our Services. We may process your information as part of our efforts to keep our Services safe and secure, including fraud monitoring and prevention.
  • To identify usage trends.
  • To save or protect an individual's vital interest.
  • Account and profile management. To create and maintain user accounts and profiles, manage identity/verification status, and enable participation in events, groups, and community features.
  • Trust and safety enforcement. We use account, activity, and communication-related metadata to detect abuse, investigate reports, enforce our Community Guidelines, and help prevent fraudulent or harmful behavior.

3. What Legal Bases Do We Rely On to Process Your Information?

In Short: We only process your personal information when we believe it is necessary and we have a valid legal reason to do so under applicable law.

If you are located in the EU or UK

The GDPR and UK GDPR require us to explain the valid legal bases we rely on. We may rely on the following legal bases:

  • Consent. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
  • Performance of a Contract. We may process your personal information when necessary to fulfill our contractual obligations to you.
  • Legitimate Interests. We may process your information when it is reasonably necessary to achieve our legitimate business interests, such as to analyze how our Services are used, diagnose problems, prevent fraud, and protect platform integrity.
  • Legal Obligations. We may process your information where necessary for compliance with our legal obligations.
  • Vital Interests. We may process your information where necessary to protect your vital interests or those of a third party.

If you are located in Switzerland

Under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP), processing of personal data is generally permitted provided it does not unlawfully violate the personality rights of data subjects. We process your information in accordance with the FADP, and we may rely on the following justifications where applicable:

  • Consent. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
  • Performance of a Contract. We may process your personal information when necessary to fulfill our contractual obligations to you.
  • Overriding Interests. We may process your information where we or a third party have an overriding legitimate interest, such as operating, securing, and improving the Services.
  • Legal Obligations. We may process your information where necessary for compliance with applicable Swiss law.

If you are located in Canada

We may process your information if you have given us specific permission (express consent) or in situations where your permission can be inferred (implied consent). You can withdraw your consent at any time. In some exceptional cases, we may be legally permitted to process your information without your consent as outlined by applicable law.

4. When and With Whom Do We Share Your Personal Information?

In Short: We may share information in specific situations and with specific third parties.

We may share your data with third-party vendors, service providers, contractors, or agents ("third parties") who perform services for us or on our behalf. We have contracts in place with our third parties, which are designed to help safeguard your personal information.

The third parties we may share personal information with include:

  • Allow Users to Connect to Their Third-Party Accounts: Google, Apple
  • Cloud Computing Services: Google Firebase
  • Functionality and Infrastructure Optimization: Cloud Firestore, Firebase Cloud Functions, Firebase Cloud Messaging, Firebase Remote Config
  • Invoice and Billing: RevenueCat, Apple App Store, Google Play Store
  • Mobile attribution and ad measurement (mobile app): AppsFlyer (which forwards attribution and aggregated event data to the ad networks we work with, such as Meta)
  • Social Media Sharing and Advertising (Website only, after cookie consent): Meta Pixel, Reddit Pixel
  • User Account Registration and Authentication: Google Sign-In, Firebase Authentication
  • Website Analytics: Google Analytics (enabled after website cookie consent)
  • Website Hosting: Cloudflare
  • Email marketing/newsletter delivery: Brevo
  • Contact form processing: EmailJS
  • Website anti-spam protection: Google reCAPTCHA (contact form), Cloudflare Turnstile (waitlist form)

We also may need to share your personal information in the following situations:

  • Business Transfers. In connection with any merger, sale of company assets, financing, or acquisition.
  • Map and directions services. We may use map and directions services (including Google services on supported platforms) to display maps and route users. This can involve location data and map interaction data needed to provide those features.
  • Other Users. When you share personal information or otherwise interact with public areas of the Services, such personal information may be viewed by all users. For location features, other users never see your exact location in public discovery surfaces — we show only a deliberately randomized approximate location offset from your real position. Your precise coordinates are visible to other users only when you intentionally share them yourself, such as sending a location in a chat message or attaching one to an event or location post.

5. Do We Use Cookies and Other Tracking Technologies?

In Short: We may use cookies and other tracking technologies to collect and store your information.

We may use cookies and similar tracking technologies (like web beacons and pixels) to gather information when you interact with our Services. We also permit third parties and service providers to use online tracking technologies on our Services for analytics and advertising.

For website-specific cookie details (including how you can accept or decline non-essential cookies), please review our Cookie Policy. In our mobile app, analytics and diagnostic data may be processed through service providers such as Firebase to operate, secure, and improve app performance.

Google Analytics

We may share your information with Google Analytics to track and analyze the use of the Services. To opt out of being tracked by Google Analytics, visit https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. For more information on the privacy practices of Google, please visit the Google Privacy & Terms page.

Product and subscription analytics (mobile app)

Inside the GoXtra mobile app, we do not use Google Analytics (GA4) or any third-party analytics SDK. Instead, we operate a first-party analytics pipeline built on our own Firebase infrastructure (Cloud Firestore and Cloud Functions) to measure how people use GoXtra Pro. When you view the Pro upgrade screen, complete a purchase, restore a purchase, or hit a Free-tier limit, the app sends a minimal event to our Cloud Functions endpoint, which stores it in a restricted Firestore collection readable only by our admins.

Each event contains: an anonymous-to-third-parties account identifier (your GoXtra user ID), the event name (paywall view, paywall dismiss, purchase attempt, purchase success, restore success, or limit hit), the in-app source that triggered it (for example, settings or daily_connections), the platform (iOS or Android), the app version and build, the country code derived from your device locale, and your primary listed hobby. No advertising identifiers (IDFA/AAID), no IP address, and no precise location are attached to these events.

Retention. Raw events are automatically deleted after 90 days via Firestore TTL. Aggregated daily counts (with no user identifiers) are retained for up to 24 months for trend analysis.

Legal basis (EEA/UK). We rely on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR — our legitimate interest in measuring product usage, preventing abuse, and improving the Service. You can object to this processing at any time by contacting legal@goxtra.app; the access, correction, and erasure rights described in Section 10 of this Policy apply to this data.

We use this data solely to understand the Pro conversion funnel, prioritize improvements, and detect abuse — never for advertising or to build profiles for third parties.

Mobile attribution and ad measurement (mobile app)

To measure how new members discover GoXtra and to evaluate the effectiveness of our paid advertising campaigns (for example on Meta), we use AppsFlyer (operated by AppsFlyer Ltd.). AppsFlyer is a "Mobile Measurement Partner" that attributes app installs and key in-app actions to the campaign and channel that drove them.

The data collected through AppsFlyer includes your device's advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, Android Advertising ID on Android), your GoXtra user ID, basic device and operating-system characteristics, the campaign and source attributed to your install, and a record of significant in-app actions (account registration, subscription purchase, public community creation, event creation). Subscription events include the purchase amount and currency. We do not send your name, email, profile content, messages, location, photos, or health data to AppsFlyer.

AppsFlyer in turn shares attribution and aggregated event data with the ad networks we work with (such as Meta) so those networks can attribute installs to their own campaigns and optimize ad delivery. We do not install the Meta SDK in the GoXtra mobile app; all data flow from the app to Meta is mediated by AppsFlyer.

iOS, App Tracking Transparency. On iOS, before any tracking identifier (IDFA) is collected, the app shows you Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you decline, AppsFlyer falls back to Apple's SKAdNetwork framework, which provides aggregate, privacy-preserving install measurement only. No IDFA or device-level identifier is collected from you in that case, and no personalised ads can be attributed to your device.

Android, Advertising ID. On Android you can reset or limit your Advertising ID at any time in your device's settings. If you opt out of personalised ads at the operating-system level, the Advertising ID is replaced with a string of zeros and AppsFlyer treats your installs as unattributed.

Retention. AppsFlyer retains raw attribution and event data for up to 24 months by default, then aggregates or deletes it. You can request access to or deletion of AppsFlyer's record of your device by contacting us at legal@goxtra.app, and we will forward your request to AppsFlyer.

Legal basis (EEA/UK). We rely on your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR) for the collection of advertising identifiers on iOS, given through the App Tracking Transparency prompt. For SKAdNetwork measurement and other non-identifying aggregate measurement, and for Android attribution that uses your device's resettable Advertising ID, we rely on our legitimate interest in measuring the effectiveness of our advertising (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can object to this processing at any time by emailing legal@goxtra.app.

AppsFlyer's own privacy policy is available at https://www.appsflyer.com/legal/services-privacy-policy/. AppsFlyer offers a global device opt-out at https://www.appsflyer.com/optout.

6. How Do We Handle Your Social Logins?

In Short: If you choose to register or log in to our Services using a social account, we receive limited profile information from that provider.

Our Services let you register and sign in using Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google. The information we receive depends on the provider and the permissions you grant:

  • Apple. Your name (only if you choose to share it on first sign-in) and either your real email address or a private relay email address generated by Apple. Apple does not share your contacts or any other personal information with us.
  • Google. Your name, email address, and profile picture.

We do not receive your friends or contacts list from either provider, and we do not post anything to your social account.

We use this information only for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy — primarily to create and authenticate your account. We recommend reviewing the privacy policies of Apple and Google to understand how they handle your personal information.

7. Is Your Information Transferred Internationally?

In Short: We may transfer, store, and process your information in countries other than your own.

Our servers are located in the United States. Your information may be transferred to, stored by, and processed by us in our facilities and in the facilities of the third parties with whom we may share your personal information, in the United States and other countries.

If you are a resident in the EEA or UK, we have implemented measures to protect your personal information, including by using the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs). If you are a resident in Switzerland, we rely on the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner's (FDPIC) recognized transfer mechanisms, including Swiss-adapted Standard Contractual Clauses, to safeguard your personal information. Copies of the applicable contractual clauses can be provided upon request.

8. How Long Do We Keep Your Information?

In Short: We keep your information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy unless otherwise required by law.

We will only keep your personal information for as long as it is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. No purpose in this policy will require us keeping your personal information for longer than the period of time in which users have an account with us.

When we have no ongoing legitimate business need to process your personal information, we will either delete or anonymize such information, or securely store it and isolate it from any further processing until deletion is possible.

When you delete your account, some content you previously shared with other users (for example, messages already delivered in chats) may remain visible to those recipients as part of their conversation history, unless deletion is required by law or technically removed in that context.

9. How Do We Keep Your Information Safe?

In Short: We aim to protect your personal information through a system of organizational and technical security measures.

We have implemented appropriate and reasonable technical and organizational security measures designed to protect the security of any personal information we process. However, despite our safeguards, no electronic transmission over the Internet or information storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. You should only access the Services within a secure environment.

10. Do We Collect Information from Minors?

In Short: We do not knowingly collect data from or market to children under 18 years of age.

We do not knowingly collect, solicit data from, or market to children under 18 years of age, nor do we knowingly sell such personal information. By using the Services, you represent that you are at least 18 or that you are the parent or guardian of such a minor and consent to such minor dependent's use of the Services. If you become aware of any data we may have collected from children under age 18, please contact us at legal@goxtra.app.

11. What Are Your Privacy Rights?

In Short: Depending on your state of residence in the US or in some regions, such as the EEA, UK, Switzerland, and Canada, you have rights that allow you greater access to and control over your personal information.

In some regions (like the EEA, UK, Switzerland, and Canada), you have certain rights under applicable data protection laws. These may include the right to:

  • Request access and obtain a copy of your personal information
  • Request rectification or erasure
  • Restrict the processing of your personal information
  • Data portability (if applicable)
  • Not be subject to automated decision-making
  • Object to the processing of your personal information

We do not rely on solely automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal effects or similarly significant effects on you.

If you are located in the EEA or UK and you believe we are unlawfully processing your personal information, you have the right to complain to your Member State data protection authority or UK data protection authority.

If you are located in Switzerland, you may contact the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner.

Withdrawing Your Consent

You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us using the contact details in the How Can You Contact Us About This Policy? section below or by updating your preferences.

Opting Out of Marketing Communications

You can unsubscribe from our marketing and promotional communications at any time by clicking on the unsubscribe link in emails we send, or by contacting us using the details in the How Can You Contact Us About This Policy? section. We may still communicate with you for service-related purposes.

Account Information

If you would at any time like to review or change the information in your account or terminate your account, you can:

  • Log in to your account settings and update your user account.
  • Contact us using the contact information provided.

Upon your request to terminate your account, we will deactivate or delete your account and information from our active databases. However, we may retain some information in our files to prevent fraud, troubleshoot problems, assist with investigations, enforce our legal terms, and/or comply with applicable legal requirements.

If you have questions or comments about your privacy rights, you may email us at legal@goxtra.app.

12. Controls for Do-Not-Track Features

Most web browsers and some mobile operating systems include a Do-Not-Track ("DNT") feature or setting you can activate to signal your privacy preference. At this stage, no uniform technology standard for recognizing and implementing DNT signals has been finalized. As such, we do not currently respond to DNT browser signals or any other mechanism that automatically communicates your choice not to be tracked online.

California law requires us to let you know how we respond to web browser DNT signals. Because there currently is not an industry or legal standard for recognizing or honoring DNT signals, we do not respond to them at this time.

13. Do United States Residents Have Specific Privacy Rights?

In Short: If you are a resident of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, or Virginia, you may have specific privacy rights.
